Kureno was founded in September 2007 by Iwani Khalid and Aizu Ikmal. Aizu and Iwani have been friends for awhile and have had plans to create their very own web applications and that September, they came up with an idea for a new-age discussion platform called Roundtabl.es together with Syakir Khalid and Nadiah Sulaiman.
From September until November, they were busy drafting the application specs for Roundtabl.es and refining the functionalities. However, due to certain circumstances, Aizu had to leave the team and Roundtabl.es was put on hold. On November 26th 2007, Iwani invited Hadihaizil Din, whom she has been friends with for a long long time to replace Aizu as the Lead Developer. They started working on their first Kureno's mini app called kurenoUp which originated from Iwani's idea called Kureno pixxUp. Despite the almost 90% completion of its development, they haven't decided whether to launch it or not as kurenoUp requires massive server storage and bandwith and may not be a good 1st product launch for Kureno.
In early 2008, they started working on Roundtabl.es again and applied for MDeC Tech Pre-Seed in March 2008. The team met up personally with CEO of Cradle, Mr Nazrin to seek for advice and feedback about their application, Roundtabl.es. However, they didn't make to the 2nd stage of the Pre-Seed interview and again, Roundtabl.es and Kureno were left abandoned
Fast forward to May 2009, after months of idle activities in the Kureno HQ, they are back again and this time, they are truly kicking off a good start for Kureno. They are launching their first product called JomTwit which is part of our 3 Jom application series. There will be 2 more Jom applications coming up in the near future and hopefully, many many other great applications after!

Ever since high school, Iwani has always dreamt of having a team she can do wonderful things with on the Internet. She has known the Internet since 12 years old and has started making websites since then. In 2000, she ran a Moffatts Fiction website with her high school friend, and the website became one of the most visited Moffatts Fiction site. In the same year, she came up with an online e-zine proposal for teens and sent it to TJ (now JFK) of Hitz FM. Little that she knew those big guys are never going to help her realize her dreams. Soon after that, XFresh website was born with some of the ideas that she plotted and the tagline she suggested "for teens, by teens" was used. She continued her journey and came up with even more ideas for websites but she knew she can never execute things alone so she kept looking for the perfect team
In 2004, she met Nadiah and it only took awhile for them to become the best of friends. Nadiah wasn't really familiar with web design world but she had no idea that she was born to be in this industry. Nadiah started messing with Photoshop and Illustration not too long after she met Iwani.
And it took less than a month for her to fall in love with them pixels and color palettes, and for her underlying design skills, artistic instinct she didn't think she had; now she's a seasoned web designer. Nadiah and Iwani both have passion in business and entrepreneurship. Together, they have run a food delivery business and in 2006, they founded Bitter-Coffee Studio, a local web design and development startup.
Hadihaizil has been in the web industry since early 2002. Just like Iwani, he has always had ideas for web applications and communities. He once ran a community called AwekOnline that really bloomed in 2004. He has always had passion in programming, despite the engineering course that he took while he was in Germany. Coincidentally, he's very passionate about business and entrepreneurship too. He founded a web hosting company called Saleiz in early 2004 and is still standing strong up to this day. Just like Iwani, one of his biggest dreams is to have a team to create web applications for the Internet users to get benefits from. And now, it's slowly becoming a reality
Syakir is Iwani's younger brother. He is one of the most legendary guys on Final Fantasy and MX Tabs forum. He has been exposed to the Internet in his early teenage years, and has used Internet to maximize his knowledge and interests. He definitely knows what's hot and what's not for an online community. He's an avid user and observer of various Internet applications. He has excellent skills in marketing (which he obtained from studying in Taylors), PR and top-notch fluency in English. He is also one of the most talented guitarists you'll ever meet. He had a band called Warve and had shared stage with the finest local indie bands. Now he's in a band called Saving Grace Period and they play fresh rock tunes, very different from the rubbish music you usually hear now.
